Special Meeting Minutes

 

President James Soriano called the Village Council to order at 6:30pm

Pledge to the flag was cited

Roll Call: Donna McCoy-present, Evelyn Jones-present, Stacy Dennis- present, James Soriano-present, Don Dennis-present

Barryton Police Report: John Bongard read the report.   The report will be posted around town.

DPW Report-Chad Lindsey read the report.

Donna McCoy made a motion to allow Chad to purchase a Frontier RB2072 6 Foot Standard Duty Rear blade for the John Deere tractor at a cost of no more than $750.00, seconded by James Soriano, roll call Stacy-no, Donna-yes, Don-no, Evelyn-yes, James-yes motion passes

James Soriano made a motion to allow Tom Brown to work up to 30 hours a week, with all work being directed by Chad, upon Chad’s return from medical leave, Tom will return to the allotted 10 hours a week, with any sewer time not counting against the ten hours, seconded by Donna McCoy, roll call Evelyn-no, Stacy-yes, Don-yes, Donna-yes, James-yes, motion passes

Evelyn Jones made a motion to replace the dead Maple Tree in central park not to exceed $100.00, seconded by Donna McCoy, roll call all yeses motion passes

Minutes of Regular Meeting April 12, 2017 were presented

Motion by Evelyn Jones, seconded by Donna McCoy to accept the minutes as presented-roll call-all ayes motion passes

A special meeting was set for May 31st at 6pm for the purpose of presenting a resolution to the council that would roll all sewer, garbage and grass ordinance violations onto the tax bills of those who are more than three months delinquent.

Motion by Evelyn Jones, seconded by Donna McCoy to accept the Treasurer’s report as presented.  Roll call all yeses motion passes

Motion by Stacy Dennis, seconded by Evelyn Jones to pay General fund bills with checks #16571 to#16603 and 149-150(E) for $13,344.73, Motor Pool fund bills with checks #1166 to #1168 for $1,130.07, Sewer fund bills with check #3059-#3061 for $1,692.80, Major Street Bills with check #1027 for $129.70 and Solid Waste Fund Bills with #711 (E) for$1 ,814.49 for a grand total of $18,111.79, Roll call all yeses motion passes

Don Dennis made a motion to support Jack and Jerry Williams pursuit of a liquor license, seconded by Donna McCoy, roll call all yeses motion passes

Todd Levitt presented council with some of the benefits of allowing a medical marijuana facility in the Village of Barryton.

Prosecutor Brian Thiede presented council with the problems that may arise with allowing a medical marijuana facility in the Village of Barryton

The Village of Barryton council decided that they would set some public meetings to hear what the thoughts of the residents and the business owners are, the public hearings will be set during the special meeting on May 31st at 6PM.

Don Dennis made a motion to extend the meeting to 8:45pm, seconded by Donna McCoy, all ayes motion passes

Don Dennis made a motion to extend the meeting five more minutes, seconded by Evelyn Jones, all ayes motion passes

Jerry Horstman commented on the dilapidated condition of a neighboring house and the Chief of Police said he would look into it.

Don Dennis expressed desire to hold public meetings in regards to bringing a dispensary into the Village of Barryton.

Stacy Dennis made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Don Dennis, all ayes motion passes
