Activities/Information:

Concealed pistol courses are being offered on Saturday July 29th and Sunday July 30th, Sunday August 27th, Saturday September 9th and Sunday September 10th 2017.   Please contact Casey Nemeth at 546mcso@gmail.com or 231-250-7257 for more information on the classes or to be placed on the roster.

LEIN Audit – Barryton PD had a LEIN Audit on June 15th, 2017.  During the audit it was found that we had 4 minor violations which had to be corrected.  Two of the them were paperwork/Process issues which have now been corrected.  One was an issue we have no control over which our dispatch center is working on a solution to involving a technical security (Provider) issue and the 4th was a Security Issue in which we needed to get our own internet router in a secured location.  We now have this issue resolved and during this fix we purchased our own printer as the office computer was no longer accessible with this option.

New Warrants – Jacilyn Draher, Criminal Bench for Failure to appear.  William Millard, Traffic Offense – DWLS.

Public Hearing Scheduled for July 19th 2017 at 6:30PM reference Medical Marijuana.  Law enforcement will be available for questions/answers during this meeting.  Scheduled to attend will be the Mecosta County Prosecutor Brian Thiede, Mecosta County Sheriff Todd Purcell, Barryton Chief of Police John Bongard, and Ferris State University Director Bruce Borkovich who was previously a member of the BAYANET Drug team.

Barryton Days – Barryton PD is planning to have coverage for the Barryton Days Beer Tent and festivities including the parade.

On 6/18/2017 MCSO handled an MDOP complaint of a vehicle parked at 280 Northern Ave.  Someone broke the window out in the car however no items were missing.  This incident is still under investigation.

On 7/6/2017 Barryton PD handled an accident at the Waterfall Carwash in which the driver drove into the Autowash system when it malfunctioned lodging the system onto his hood and windshield.  Maintenance was then called to repair the carwash and was found to be Suspended.

On 7/6/2017 a Barryton PD handled a Retail Fraud which occurred at the Barryton Hardware.  This incident is still under investigation.  Anyone with any information reference the above incidents is urged to contact Barryton PD.
