Public Hearing Minutes
President James Soriano called the Village Council to order at 6:30pm
Pledge to the flag was cited
Roll Call: Donna McCoy-absent, Evelyn Jones-present, Stacy Dennis-present, James Soriano-present and Don Dennis-present
James Soriano opened with an introduction to the representatives from Michigan Pure Green and briefly explained the purpose of the public meeting, which was to simply hear what the public’s opinion on establishing a medical marijuana provisioning center in the Village of Barryton limits.
Todd Levitt introduced himself and his partners from Michigan Pure Green, Anthony and Deanna, and subsequently gave a brief history of the company and what they are seeking to establish in the Village of Barryton.
Residents from the Village of Barryton and from outside of the Village limits voiced some of their concerns regarding the safety of the public and the possibility of increased crime if the provisioning center opened in the Village.
There were also residents both in and out of the Village limits that were in support of the provisioning center as they either had personal experience with the medical benefits of marijuana or knew someone that it had helped as well as acknowledging the monetary possibilities that the provisioning center could bring to the Village.
Ultimately the meeting ended with a few more words from President James Soriano as well as a reminder that a second public hearing was scheduled for July 19, 2017 at 6:30pm at the Fork Township Community Center.
Stacy Dennis made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Evelyn Jones all ayes motion passes.
