Concealed pistol courses are being offered on Saturday January 6th, 2018 and Sunday January 7th, 2018. Saturday February 3rd, 2018 and Sunday February 4th, 2018. Barryton PD would like to thank Mackersie’s for the kind donation of a turkey and gift certificate to all the police and reserve officers.
On 12/6/2017 Barryton PD had the pleasure of shopping with an 8 year old girl from Barryton elementary during Shop with a Cop at Walmart and also were able to do some art projects at Heartful Art Studio.
On 12/11/2017 Barryton PD received a donated Prescription medication drop box by Rite Aid & Kid Cents. The box is able to take all expired and unwanted prescription medications and over the counter medications.
On 11/16/2017 Mecosta County Sheriff Office handled a retail fraud of some beer. Investigation is ongoing.
On 11/27/2017 Barryton PD had a traffic stop in which a 25 y/o man from Lakeview was arrested for No Insurance. Charges are pending on this suspect for felony CCW in a vehicle as well as having an unregistered firearm.
On 12/3/2017 Mecosta County Sheriff Office handled a hit n run accident at Murphy’s bar. Deputies were able to track down the suspect from Lake who admitted to leaving the scene due to having a suspended license.
The Department would like to remind residents of the Village Snow Ordinance 21-2015 Parking section: No parking on any street, 2:00a.m. to 6:00a.m. Beginning November 1st through March 31st. A citation can be issued and if snowfall requires plowing the vehicle can be towed at owner’s expense.
The Barryton Police Department would like to remind residents to call 911 when they need to file a complaint or report a crime and to report all suspicious activity.
