Regular Meeting Minutes
President James Soriano called the Village Council to order at 6:30pm
Pledge to the flag was cited
Roll Call: Donna McCoy-present, Evelyn Jones-present, Stacy Dennis- present, James Soriano-present, Don Dennis-absent
Barryton Police Report: John Bongard read the report. The report will be posted around town.
Donna McCoy made a motion to reimburse John $ 133.55 for the purchase of the Village of Barryton Police Department Fathead, seconded by Evelyn Jones, roll call all yeses Don-absent motion passes
DPW Report-Chad Lindsey read the report.
James Soriano made a motion to allow Chad to make the necessary purchases in order to repair and preserve the dump bed on the red Ford F-350, not to exceed $325.00, seconded by Evelyn Jones, roll call all yeses Don-absent, motion passes
Evelyn Jones made a motion to replace the gutters on the front of the Village office at a cost of no more than $1 00.00, seconded by Donna McCoy, roll call-all yeses Don-absent motion passes
Evelyn Jones made a motion to add 3 street lights on Coolidge avenue and 1 street light on Chippewa Drive at a cost of no more than $400.00, seconded by Donna McCoy roll call all yeses Don-absent motion passes
Minutes of Regular Meeting March 8, 201 7 were presented
Motion by Evelyn Jones, seconded by Donna McCoy to accept the minutes as presented-roll call-all ayes Don-absent motion passes
Motion by James Soriano, seconded by Donna McCoy to accept the Treasurer’s report as presented. Roll call all yeses Don-absent motion passes
Evelyn Jones made a motion to close the long-term maintenance and sludge bank accounts, transfer the money into the sewer account, and subsequently create sub accounts in order to maintain separate balances for the sludge and long term maintenance funds, seconded by James Soriano roll call all yeses, Don absent motion passes
Motion by Stacy Dennis, seconded by James Soriano to pay General fund bills with checks# 16528 to #16570 and 140-148(E) for $17,666.43, Motor Pool fund bills with checks #1160 to #1165 for $831.34, Sewer fund bills with check #3058 for $80.00, Major Street Bills with check #1025-1026 for $4,461.42 and Solid Waste Fund Bills with 71 0 (E) for$1 ,686.25 for a grand total of $25,565.44, Roll call all yeses Don-absent motion passes
Evelyn Jones made a motion to adopt the Village of Barryton Resolution for Wastewater Service Rates, seconded by Donna McCoy, roll call all yeses Do n-absent motion passes
By adopting the Village of Barryton Resolution for Wastewater Service Rates, this means that starting May 1, 2017, sewer rates will go from $39.50 a month to $41.75, May 1, 2018 the rates will go from $41.75 a month to $44.00 a month and on May 1, 2019 the rates will go from $44.00 a month to $46.25 a month, this raise in sewer rates are necessary continue the necessary operations of the sewer system.
Evelyn Jones made a motion to accept the resolution to ordinance #6-3 -87, seconded by Donna McCoy, roll call all yeses Don-absent motion passes
The above resolution to ordinance #6-3-87 grants Consumers Energy the rights and responsibility to provide the Village with its electric nee ds, the resolution is available at the Village office and will be posted on the Village’s website, www.villageofbarryton.com
There were comments and conversations in regards to the lack of volunteers to cook and serve the Swiss Steak dinner at the Barryton Senior center, there is great concern about the Senior Center’s ability to continue its operations due to the lack of volunteers.
