Regular Meeting Minutes

December 13, 2023

President James Soriano called the Village Council to order at 6:00pm

Pledge to the flag was recited

Roll call: Evelyn Jones-present, James Soriano-present, Kathryn Kerr-present, Steven Hammond-present, Lavonne Horstman-present

Public Comment: A resident asked about plowing on Rio Passeo, also the time DPW workers are starting work in the morning

James Soriano made a motion seconded by Lavonne Horstman to go to winter DPW hours, starting time of 8am, effective immediately, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Police Report: Chief Morgan presented the Police Report

Kathryn Kerr made a motion seconded by Evelyn Jones to proceed with the RMS Project for the Police Department at a start up cost of $4,300, covers internet, phones, sonic wall, and Big Rapids City IT, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Minutes of Regular Meeting November 8, 2023, and Special Meeting November 20, 2023, were presented

James Soriano made a motion seconded by Steven Hammond to approve all minutes with changes, roll call-all ayes, motion passes

Evelyn Jones made a motion seconded by James Soriano to purchase a 3 pk of ph. buffer from USA Bluebook at cost of $156, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Bank Balances as of 11/30/2023-General Fund-$148,851.12, Sewer Fund-$254,916.45, Solid Waste Fund-$42,204.09, Major Street Fund-123,891.97, Local Street Fund-$42,732.75, Motor Pool Fund-$19,068.48, Sewer Bond Interest-$1,027.17

Evelyn Jones made a motion seconded by Lavonne Horstman to pay General Fund bills with check #19552-19562, 391-402(E) for $15,012.46, Sewer Fund with check #3428-3431 3088-3092(E) for $16,876.44, Motor Pool fund with check #1473-1478, for $3,379.51, Solid Waste Fund with, 734-736(E) for $5,051.14, Local Street Fund with 11-12(E)  for $8,696.77,  and Major Street Fund with check # 1110, 13-15(E) for $1,056.28 for a total of $50,072.60, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Pump Station 6 still in progress

James Soriano made a motion seconded by Evelyn Jones to not renew the Quill + Membership, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Kathryn Kerr made a motion seconded by Evelyn Jones to hire Jacob Morgan at a rate of $14/hr. beginning December 14, 2023, roll call-all yeses, motion passes
